Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2019

Join us on Thursday, May 16 2019 and celebrate the eighth annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day. The purpose of GAAD is to get the design, development, usability, and related communities talking, thinking and learning about digital access/inclusion and people with different disabilities.

In honor of this day, Mozillians around the world are invited to participate in a set of activities to learn more about accessibility, to improve the accessibility of our products and services, to start conversations about accessibility with our colleagues, and to experience accessibility first hand.

Participate

There are many ways to participate in Global Accessibility Awareness Day. We've listed some of them here. If you are participating, be sure to tweet about it with the hashtag #gaad.

• Fix an accessibility bug in Firefox.
  • The access keyword on Bugzilla will help you find accessibility bugs in a specific area.
  • If you don't know where to start, try this search.
• Experience accessibility.
  • Go mouseless for an hour, or a day.
  • Enlarge your fonts in the browser or across the whole OS.
  • Check for sufficient color contrast out on the web
  • Surf the web with a screen reader. (NVDA is an excellent Windows screen reader. Try Orca on Linux, Talkback on Android, and [1] on iOS.)
  • Experience how the web would be seen through various visual impairments.
