[18:33] <mschroeder> Hi Andreas :)
[18:33] <Andreas> hi mschroeder
[18:34] <mschroeder> Our agenda for today: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:QA_Chat:2008-01-17
[18:36] <mschroeder> Let's start the QA chat... don't know if ctalbert joins us.
[18:36] * ctalbert (clint@moz-334F2010.mountainview.mozilla.com) has joined #calendar-qa
[18:36] * mschroeder has mental powers.
[18:37] <mschroeder> [18:36] <mschroeder> Let's start the QA chat... don't know if ctalbert joins us.
[18:37] <mschroeder> [18:36] * ctalbert (clint@moz-334F2010.mountainview.mozilla.com) has joined #calendar-qa
[18:37] <mschroeder> ctalbert: ^^^
[18:37] <ctalbert> hahah
[18:37] <mschroeder> ctalbert: good morning :)
[18:38] <ctalbert> good afternoon
[18:38] <mschroeder> I added a new section to the QA Chat wiki page "Action items".
[18:39] <mschroeder> That way we can keep track of who does what at the moment.
[18:40] <mschroeder> Sebo works to include the ICS provider in our unit tests.
[18:41] <mschroeder> I had no time to make any progress on tests on Trunk tinderboxen.
[18:41] <ctalbert> sounds good
[18:41] <mschroeder> But I finally reviewed Sebo's first provider patch and checked it in.
[18:42] <mschroeder> ctalbert: Any news on Test Automation Summit? Has the guy been hired?
[18:42] <ctalbert> yes
[18:42] <ctalbert> he started yesterday
[18:42] <ctalbert> I'll try to get a blog on it by the end of the week. Thanks for the reminder
[18:42] <davida> uh?
[18:43] <ctalbert> We are moving the idea of the test automation summit out of just a "calendar" event
[18:43] <ctalbert> probably going to do it mozilla-wide
[18:43] <davida> kewl
[18:43] <ctalbert> and yesterday a new guy started on the mozilla test dev/tools team that willprobably help me with puttin git together
[18:43] <davida> i'm making good progress towards securing HW & SW for an apple calendar server as well as a test license for zimbra.
[18:44] <davida> michal?
[18:44] <ctalbert> yep
[18:44] <mschroeder> davida: great news
[18:44] <davida> mschroeder: turns out it's mostly about asking =)
[18:44] <mschroeder> I got an email from Simon Vaillancourt, the guy from Oracle.
[18:45] <davida> Once i have some boxes in place i'll coordinate w/ the OSS calendar vendors to get them to help us if we need installation help
[18:45] <mschroeder> Simon gave me credentials for three test accounts for the Oracle calendar server, and he would create more if needed.
[18:46] <ctalbert> cool
[18:46] <davida> good. I have an account there as well, from bernard desruissaux.
[18:46] <mschroeder> He read it on ctalbert's meeting notes, and wrote the mail only two hours later. :)
[18:47] <mschroeder> So it's good we have those.
[18:47] <ctalbert> mschroeder, we should probably make a listing of these accounts for the next test day, so that people can easily use them.
[18:47] <ctalbert> be good to test several people hitting the same types of accounts with various providers
[18:48] <mschroeder> We can add it to http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:QA_Test_Servers.
[18:48] <mschroeder> Andreas: Have you heard about the Calendar test servers we want to set up to test against?
[18:49] <Andreas> No, sorry.
[18:51] <ctalbert> mschroeder: good idea
[18:51] <ctalbert> we should also add the existing wcap accounts to that page
[18:51] <ctalbert> people could use my wcap account as a general test account, for example
[18:52] <mschroeder> Andreas: To improve interoperability with calendar servers (e.g. Apple, Zimbra, Oracle, Cosmo) we want to set up a test server with those products.
[18:52] <Andreas> That sounds good.
[18:53] <mschroeder> Next topic: Results of last testday
[18:55] <mschroeder> We had a new volunteer (thetux). He manages 140 Thunderbird & Lightning installations for an institution in Germany.
[18:56] <mschroeder> skuribay and thetux run 117 testcases, and a bug was found in the new d&d-conversion feature on Mac.
[18:57] <mschroeder> Andreas: Thanks for checking skuribay's testruns.
[18:57] <mschroeder> Andreas: Have you had a look at the additional one
[18:57] <mschroeder> s?
[18:57] <Andreas> yes, and I could file a second bug.
[18:58] <Andreas> Many thanks to skuribay to test it on mac and his test case review
[19:00] <mschroeder> He marked all three additional tests failed. Fail they because of the same bug?
[19:01] <Andreas> Most of this bugs are known and filed.
[19:01] <mschroeder> okay
[19:01] <Andreas> Only the 'mac only' bugs are new.
[19:02] <mschroeder> So, you'll file the new bug tomorrow?
[19:02] <Andreas> I filed the new one today in the morning.
[19:03] <mschroeder> ah, I see :)
[19:03] <mschroeder> Next topic: Next testday
[19:03] <mschroeder> on Jan 24th
[19:03] <mschroeder> What should we test? Should we use Litmus?
[19:04] <ctalbert> I like the idea of using the new accounts that we have for testing
[19:04] <ctalbert> hit some of the provider tests
[19:04] <ctalbert> try to see how we do with multiple people changing events on the same accounts
[19:05] * ctalbert shrugs. Its an idea
[19:05] <davida> (when someone has a second, i'd like someone using Tb trunk & Lightning trunk to try to get to the customize toolbar dialog)
[19:05] * davida is now known as davida_confcall
[19:06] <Andreas> I think the offline caching is a good thing for the next test day.
[19:06] <mschroeder> My suggestions are: Offline support, Task mode, Menus & Keys (because of recent regressons)
[19:06] <celina63> I'm just looking forward to getting back to testing  :)
[19:07] <mschroeder> we can add provider testing, maybe people will come to try different calendar servers.
[19:07] <ctalbert> ooh yeah i frgot we had offline support!
[19:09] <mschroeder> Andreas: Have you worked on Litmus testcases last week? I didn't have time to look at thetux's comments (he run the regulat testcases and added comments if they weren't up-to-date anymore).
[19:09] <Andreas> no
[19:09] <mschroeder> s/regulat/
[19:10] <Andreas> II spend my time with testing the offline cache, so I have no time for the test cases in the moment.
[19:10] <mschroeder> okay :)
[19:11] <Andreas> It seems to be a little bit tricky to test.
[19:11] <mschroeder> I haven't tried yet.
[19:12] <Andreas> But Daniel told me what it possible in the moment and what is missing.
[19:12] <mschroeder> I'll prepare the announcement and everything else for the testday.
[19:14] <mschroeder> I'll talk about our QA efforts at FOSDEM in Brussels in February.
[19:14] <ctalbert> that sounds like it's going to be fun.
[19:15] <mschroeder> Interoperability, RFC conformity and other problems specific to a calendar and community project... and how Mozilla tools can help and you we (will) use them.
[19:16] <mschroeder> I want to connect our project, community, calendar and Mozilla in my part of the talk... and recruit some volunteers.
[19:17] <mschroeder> if anyone has input or suggestions, send my an email. :)
[19:17] <ctalbert> ok. sounds like an ambitious talk. How long do you have to speak?
[19:20] <mschroeder> no idea... we mailed the people from Mozilla Europe, but no answer yet.
[19:21] <ctalbert> cool. Just prepare your ideal speech and you can trim it down as needed.
[19:21] <ctalbert> sounds like fun!
[19:22] <mschroeder> maybe I can allude to the Test Automation Summit in my talk. ;)
[19:22] <ctalbert> I wouldn't do that, necessarily
[19:22] <ctalbert> It's too unformed at the moment
[19:22] <ctalbert> I dunno. It depends on how you do it.
[19:22] <ctalbert> It ceratinly won't hurt
[19:23] <ctalbert> And talking about things usually makes them happen ;-)
[19:23] <mschroeder> btw That's the end of the QA chat. ;)
