Short Description Include a tweet-length summary description of the challenge. |
What do the next billion web users want? Mozillians love to tell world about Mozilla. Now they can tell Mozilla about the world. Collect real information about what problems the next billion users want to solve and how to improve mobile Webmaker to address those needs. |

Context Does this challenge cover the entire initiative? Or does this challenge cover a subset or one piece of the overall program? Use this section to inspire, enable and support our volunteer communities to have real impact on our mission, starting with our 2014 goals. |
Mozilla already has a major initiative to enable local content creation, both with technology (Webmaker for Mobile), partnerships (GSMA and operators), and educational curriculum (Webmaker, web literacy). One of the critical things we know we need however is to ensure that the apps we build for users around the world work for those people, solve their needs, help them succeed. And we can’t do that without good, on-the-ground research about what real people need, want, etc.
This is why we want to invite the whole Mozilla community worldwide to be part of this project, and allow users from all over the world to have a voice in how we build Webmaker for mobile devices. We don’t just want to build a product for the next billion, we want to build it with them. This challenge is a significant part of the ground-research for the Webmaker app. It will help us gather insights from a wide range of countries and benefit from the volunteer’s local expertise, leading to a better product. |
