Two important recent developments:

1) where we want to start: pick small number of projects to boot-strap and run with quickly David is taking lead on planning and development with a number of those e.g., Fair Mobile, priavy icon challenge, etc. Big focus for next few months is to get those up and running logic behind that is that we want to get to the pont where anyone can propse any idea and there's apipeline of prjects that come into forefront - help with fundraising, grants, volunteers, etc. BUT, the best way to get there is by showing what projects would look like had they gone through that funnel projecst in montion that we are are accelerating through the process

2) Feedback on web page mock-ups enthusiasm for simplicity of approach site as platform for projects and intake channel for people to propose projects enough enthusiasm for direction that we're going to keep moving in that direction, and try to get up with prototype web site for January

Editorial content beyond projects talked about as Drumbeat "blog" enthusiasm for that; material we produce on that will end up in multiple channels

Events Small local drumbeat events emerging -- many organized around finding content and people and projecst that go into larger Drumbeat pipeline

Big event confirmed; 90% June location still up for discussion: Istanbul, Rome, or Amsterdam need to search for local partners; big deciding factor

OpenOffice project integrate into Drumbeat talk William: present opensource meet-up; share their experience at Fosdem tie it to larger discussion on Drumbeat turn it into larger opensource meetups across Europe Fosdem: one of largest international European developer conferences Free and open source software developer meeting takes place in Brussels every year in February (Feb 6 and 7 this year) weekend of workshops and session presentations (and drinking!)

want ideas on broadening meet-ups across Europe; within Drumbeat framework thoughts on presenting Drumbeat at Fosdem in Dev room potentially tying that to open source meet-ups Mark: advocate for two separate slots 1) global Drumbeat framework 2) separate session just on event approach; getting template down nest them together, but not totally tie them together

Mark Another place where we will tie in Drumbeat events in near term Bangalore & Singapore Day or two-long open video conference in Bangalore "Keep it open" tech talks or "Your open web idea" Takes Drumbeat concept of taking projects that keep the web more open, and give a 5-minute Ignite-style talk a little bit of Drumbeat, Dragon's Den, Talent Search a lot of fun and theater one-hour evening, ten talks

One goal: have fewer Mozilla community members, broaden out to reach more of the 5,000 visitors there Create TED or Ignite-style archive of talks that exist in video online Gina: swing back and forth between more tech-focused language vs. idealism and bigger picture Highlight diversity. Tends to be male-centric. On the social web, more women than men. Might want to consider adding a video aspect that could be used to broaden project.

1. Simple privacy icon design challenge. Engaging design, law students and regular web users to accelerate the development of icons that make privacy policies easier to understand.

1. Ultimate Open Internet Presentation Challenge(or Drumbeats?). A competition to create an deliver teh best presentation that explains what the Open Web is, and why it is important. Global, but with a specific focus on Brasil, India, Middle East and East Asia. First step towards fostering a grassroots network that promotes the open web in these market.

1. Keep It Open TechTalk An ignite style presentation in which a challenge to the open internet or an idea on how to make the internet more open is shared. These presentations serve as an important feeder for Drumbeat Challenges around which the community can organize and take action.

Will keep working on what the lifecycle of a project is Series of check-marks: e.g., is there a clear leader? have its own page on web site, etc.? Is there a clear objective? What is the timeline or process that project that goes through birth to completion
