Schedule Update
- 47.0b7 gtb later today
Add-ons
Stability
Crashes with D3D11 almost fixed (it was backed out and relanded today on inbound) by blacklisting using a pref ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1273691 ). This means if on release we find other driver versions or third-party libraries that cause crashes, we can block them without code changes.
- the fix hasn't landed yet - maybe we can also push the underlying pref change media.windows-media-foundation.allow-d3d11-dxva->true (bug 1248496) back to the 48 cycle to buy some more time
- this new blacklisting pref should probably be vetted to ensure that an update via a hotfix is possible as the crashing population on release might be different than currently on beta
Aurora
Crash rate is 1,66 so in the orange zone (max is 2,0) Browser: 1,10, Content: 0,56
The usual graphics- and network-related shutdown hangs ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1268559, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1158189 ).
There are some signatures that were at 0 a few days ago, but that's likely still caused by the compiler change.
Beta
Crash rate is 1,25 so in the red zone (max is 1,25) Browser: 1,06, Content: 0,19 ...though 0.12 down from a week ago :-)
- Small spike with signature nsPerformanceGroup::Dispose ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1261702 ) - Spike with signature nsSOCKSSocketInfo::WriteV5UsernameRequest, no bugs filed. It's suspicious because it went from 0 to 86 crashes in two days. - D3D11 media playpack crashes are 2,7% of beta 6 crash volume
Release
Crash rate is 0,98 so in the orange zone (max is 1,10) Browser: 0,98, Content: 0,00 ...0.05 down from a week ago; crashes on startup: 0.13, shutdownhangs: 0.2
- Spike (but still low-volume) with shutdownhang | WaitForSingleObjectEx | WaitForSingleObject | PR_WaitCondVar | nsThread::ProcessNextEvent | NS_ProcessNextEvent | nsXULWindow::ShowModal - various trend micro related crashes from bug 1196899 and others are 1.3% of the crash volume on 46.0.1 (with ~1000 crashes/day): https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/search/?product=Firefox&version=46.0.1&process_type=browser&proto_signature=~tmbpffcore.dll&_facets=signature&_facets=user_comments&_facets=version&_facets=platform_pretty_version&_columns=signature#facet-signature
Nightly
- https://groups.google.com/a/mozilla.com/forum/#!topic/projectuptime-team/or0j02gUxm0 has the update on the xul.dll@0xa6a426 | PR_NativeRunThread | pr_root crashes
- twalker filed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1273658
