Firefox2/Major Update Web Content

Overview

We'll be notifying current Firefox 1.5.x users of the availability of Firefox 2 and enabling them to upgrade from 1.5.x to 2 via the Software Update process. We need to create embedded web pages that:

1) provide a summary of reasons to upgrade

2) display a EULA.


Design requirements

  • HTML/CSS ok
  • No JavaScript
  • Approximate display size of 369px by 96px (Update page); 369px by 108px (EULA)
  • Target links into a new window (use href target="_blank" attribute)
  • Use visual identity from Firefox 2 in-product web content for Update page. EULA does not require visual identity applied to it.

EULA

EULAs should be published to: http://xx-XX.www.mozilla.com/xx-XX/firefox/2.0/eula/index.html

Update 1/22/07: The final English EULA, formatted for the software update dialog, is live now at: http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0/eula/index.html

Availability of localized EULAs will *not* gate the major update. We are continuing to work on making localized EULAs available for the major update -- progress is tracked at bug 351786.

The English EULA for Firefox 2 is available at: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/legal/eula/firefox2-en.html

The version linked to above will need to be reformatted for the constraints of the software update dialog box. No mozilla.com header, and links will need to use the target="_blank" attribute.

EULA localization is tracked by bug 351786. If a locale is not listed on this bug for EULA localization, we will display the en-US EULA.

As of 15 Jan 2007, we expect EULA localization to be complete by Friday, 19 Jan 2007.
