Firefox 3.0.x

  • Firefox 3.0.8
    • Shipped on Friday as a two-fix firedrill release
  • Firefox 3.0.9
    • Renamed release from 3.0.8
    • All fixes that were in "3.0.8" are now in 3.0.9
    • Moved scheduled release date out by one week
  • Firefox 3.0.10
    • Proposed schedule on wiki
    • Aiming for mid-late May release

Firefox 3.5 Development

Development Update

Daily users (weekly average across versions)

  • 3.1b3 - 500,000
  • Shiretoko - 8,000
  • Minefield - 8,000

Beta 4

  • string freeze: Thursday, March 19th at 23:59 PDT
  • code freeze: Monday, April 6th
    • development is pretty sure we won't get all P1s done by this date
    • options are:
      • slip code freeze to April 15th (to contain all P1s)
      • ship on schedule and add a quick-turn B5 milestone
    • please let us know the cost/benefits to your teams of these changes
  • QA start: 48 hours after code freeze
  • release: 5 business days after QA start

Support

  • 3.5 threads: Support/Firefox3.5:Forumthreads
  • Top 3.0 issues:
    • Chrome Registration Failure messages after update (bad extensions?): bug 401769
    • Prefs.js is locked/corrupt/notsaving etc. (Any way to get more specifics?) bug 485830
  • Update on 3.1 to 3.5: SUMO release 1.0.1 will do just this. On track for April 7th. tracking bug: bug 481465

Localization

  • SUMO l10n dashboards (example) receive good feedback on #l10n.
  • locales are at 50% green, 50% red with 145 missing strings. Tier 1 is looking slightly better.
  • pre-landed string status is one fixed bug 390614 (Older than 6 days), and four open ones, bug 480169 (clear history sprint, Andrew Wilson, patches WIP), bug 462041 (privacy pane refresh, Ehsan, r?=mconnor), bug 482229 (site search, Ryan Flint, r?=gavin), bug 394759 (undo close window, Paul O'Shannessy, reviewers?)

QA

  • actively working on 1.9.1 bug verifications
  • no other updates this week

Release Engineering

  • XULRunner builds for 1.9.1, 1.9.2 are now being done nightly
    • 64-bit linux builds came for free; we're not in a position to be 'officially' supporting this yet

Add-Ons

  • 82% compatibility with 3.1b3
  • Recommended list down to only 4 non-compatible add-ons from 14
  • Bugzilla bug reports by CHoffman re: 3.5 compatibility
  • Roboform crashes Fx 3.1b3
