Firefox 3.0.12

  • released yesterday

Firefox 3.0.13

  • blockers set, code freeze August 4
  • targeting an early September release

Firefox 3.5.2

  • triage underway, blockers set just on to approval flags
  • targeting early August release

Firefox 3.6

  • looks like code freeze for Alpha 1 will be end of the month
  • branch date for mozilla-1.9.2 is now likely to be the first week of August
  • primary features are performance improvements

Support

  • Firefox 3.0.11 check for update confusion.

Engineering

  • about 5k users on mozilla-1.9.1 nightlies
  • about 10k users on mozilla-central
  • oddly about 10k users on a version reporting as 4.0a1pre
  • talked a lot about what major items are left to land
    • asynchronous location bar (landing this week)
    • Compositor Phase 1 (landed yesterday)
    • interruptible reflow (fixes coming soon)
  • code freeze estimated for mid next week
  • creation of mozilla-1.9.2 branch estimated for Aug 7th

Localization

  • 3.5.1 shipped with mk and sr again
    • update path from 3.0.x is to 3.0.12 first, then check again manually, to 3.5.1
  • need to talk to release engineering about whether 1.9.2 repos are required for each locale
  • need to determine the delta between mozilla-1.9.1 and mozilla-central to understand localization cost for mozilla-1.9.2

QA

  • Quick QA turnaround for 3.5.1
    • Automated smoketests using Mozmill were used in Mac and Windows
      • 2mins (Mozmill) vs. 20 mins (manual)

      • Other test suites like updates checks are being worked on.
  • Testdays:

    • Installed the latest build and testing is ongoing
    • Have filed several crash bugs
