Gaia/Toolkit/Service Worker/Meetings/2015-04-10-KickOffFollowUp
From MozillaWiki
- ServiceWorkers status: so far we have been doing a lot of testing in Nightly, we need to have a clear picture of what's the status of ServiceWorkers, Cache and Fetch apis in B2G and raise ASAP any possible problems to our colleagues working in the DOM team. [next week]
- SW Performance:
- Fernando pointed out that Thinker's team is going to review SW performance, we should double check with his tem. [next week]
- I've been talking with the Telemetry team and it's clear for them that they must provide something that work in workers, current path is to expose gecko api, since other alternatives look a bit hacky.
- It would be great to focus on performance as soon as possible so we can check that the changes done in the sw helpers doesn't affect the performance.
- Current work:
- Analysis and discussion about work done so far. [next week]
- Sync with our Telefonica colleagues to see what are they doing. [next week]
- SW clients:
- First clients will be music and sms, we need to sync with this two teams to check the use cases that they maybe have and how we can help them with the tooling. [starting in 2 weeks]
- As an intermediate step we could bring back the hability of SW to being able to work from 'app://' origins (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1147214). [starting in 2 weeks]
- As we mentioned a pure client, like the typical TODO list, being done with the tool that we are going to create will be highly appreciated. We need to ask David if he wants to take this. [starting when we have part of the helpers ready]
- Debugging
- We have to help driving the design of service workers specific tools.
- Lots of work to do. It seems that Eddy Bruel is going to be working on debugging workers in general, is he also going to work on service workers specific issues?
- We can help with bugs like https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1078808
- Way of working:
- 1 weekly meeting to avoid death by meetings
- meta bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1153312
- wiki: on the way
