Mozilla L10n Urdu Meetup 2020
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 4-5 January 2020

Highlights

Quality Sprint

This session is to reduce the number of unreviewed strings, focus on high priority projects and localize, review while maintaining the quality of localization.

Style Sheet Creation

The purpose of this session is to create a style guide for Urdu Language that would be referenced by the existing and new contributors to make the localisation easier and of better quality.

Mozilla Staff Session

Mozilla L10n Staff member shall be invited to host a session online/in-person during the event.

Discussions

  • Importance of L10n Gatherings.
  • Mozilla, it's projects, initiatives and how one can contribute.
  • Localisation tools.
  • Plans to recruit new localizers.
  • Identify or create language resources for Urdu(style guide, glossary, etc.).
  • Brainstorming for quality improvements in the current projects.
  • Need to create a training/ ‘Getting Started’ material for new contributors.

Registration

This is an invitation-only meetup. The invitation period is now closed and all participants have received their invitation.

Travel

Getting to Kuala Lumpur

  • Everyone will have their flights booked for the meetup.
  • Don't forget to bring your passport & (if needed) your Mozilla travel letter.
  • Onward Journey:

You can start on Friday evening.

  • Backward Journey:

You can start on Sunday evening or Monday early morning.

Hotel

  • We have booked the hotel from Friday evening to Monday morning you will stay at. No need to book by yourself.
  • Check-In: Fri, 03 Jan 2020 04:00 PM Onwards
  • Check-Out: Mon, 06 Jan 2020 by or before 12:00 PM
  • Rooms are booked for everyone on a sharing basis (Two people in one room).
  • Note: If you would like to arrive earlier or stay extra days, you will have to make your own booking arrangements.

Meals

  • Dinner for Friday is included with the hotel
  • Breakfast for the Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are included with the hotel
  • Lunches for the Saturday and Sunday will be taken on-site
  • Dinner is organized for Saturday and Sunday.

Reimbursements and receipts

We will reimburse the following items using the usual process:

  • visa and immigration costs
  • Public transportation from the Airport to the hotel (and back)
  • Usual transportation costs (from Home to Airport and back)

People with disabilities: other needed transportation (speak with us beforehand)

No other things will be reimbursed (unless agreed beforehand). If you have any doubt, please contact us!

Like always, keep all receipts. :)

After the event submit an invoice (like for any other event) with all the items listed and all receipts. Deadline: January 12th, 2020.

Weather

In January, Kuala Lumpur enjoys mild, welcoming weather even though there are frequent rains. The afternoon temperature reaches its high peak at about 32°C, while it rarely goes below 22°C at night. The overall average daytime temperature is 27°C this month, which is extremely warm.
