Themes / Persona
Place 1 big image behind UI chrome and in-content UI (Kitsch, but effective)
- How do you get this?
- Go to getpersonas or AMO, and pick a thumbnail
- Tap on it to download an image, it previews in the UI and you can save it
- What about advanced theming where you can actually change button images and icons?
- We would need to provide a list of all the things you need to change a theme
- list of assets
- list of css styles for selection colours, text colours
- list of android theme elements
- Need to assemble some documentation on what is customizable (UX / Front end)
- This could be useful to start building for partnerships, should they decide they want to
- Customize the UI Layout
- Incontent UI for customization
- Build a webpage to allow users to
- move icons into toolbar
- reverse the orientation of the UI for left handed use
- Alternately, could we do a drag and drop UI for customization
- This could also a good way to identify if there are different "niche" UI arrangements that are optimized for different tasks
- Customize Top Sites on about:home
- control over what sites
- control over how many?
- control over shape of layout?
- and later, could this even evolve into a "magazine mode" on about:home
- Sound effects
- identify where
- Colour
- Pulling logo or favicon colour to use as dominant colour for URL bar or tabs backgrounds
- Action Items
- [IAN] Open UX bug for how can I customize my top sites
- [IAN] List of where we might use sound effects
- [MARK] Talk to Fabrice about what he's doing with Personas: how to do the big image background
- Still worthwhile for ADIs?
- Heck yeah
- People just like hacking their stuff
- We can look more at home on OEMs
- We are giving our users choice
- Customization leads to stickyness - people have it set just the way they like it
