Summary:

Everyone at Mozilla talks about the importance of the open web, but what exactly does that mean? Why is it important?

The "open web" has a number of dimensions that hinge around freedom: political freedom, technological freedom, economic freedom. This presentation will describe each of them, their importance to the good of the world, what Mozilla is doing about them and how do easily explain them to others. It will be focused on clear, tangible examples of how the lessons of the past and current events show the importance of the project's efforts.

At the end of the presentation, attendees should be armed with a short, simple set of key points to remember when evangelizing to others about the open web and Mozilla's good works.

How your session furthers the MozCamp Goals (https://wiki.mozilla.org/MozCampEU2012/Tracks): In my view, Mozilla is a bit too woolly when talking about the open web. After this presentation, attendees should have clear, specific points to raise when talking with their friends and family or potential developers.
