Mozfest 2015: Staff Info

This wiki page is for Mozilla staff interested in attending Mozilla Festival. It addresses travel, accommodation, registration and other logistical details specific to staff. Please note there are different processes for MoCo and MoFo staff, described below.

MozFest is dedicated to forging the future of the open Web. It's where passionate technologists, educators and creators unite to hack on innovative solutions for the Web's most pressing issues. We explore topics like privacy, ethics, literacy and economy on the Web.

More information, including schedule, program, volunteering and more is available at the main festival site, mozillafestival.org. If you have a question that's not answered here, please let the festival team know at festival@mozilla.org.

General Festival Logistical Info
MozFest Venue

MozFest 2015 is being held for it's 5th year at Ravensbourne, 6 Penrose Way, London, SE10 0EW.

It's easy to get to Ravensbourne, it's right next to The O2 Arena. By Tube take the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich Station. You can also take mainline services from London Bridge, Charing Cross, Canon Street and Waterloo East to Charlton and take the 486 bus. If you fancy something a little different you can take the Thames Clipper riverboat services from central London to North Greenwich Pier or take the Emirates Airline cable car to Emirates Greenwich Peninsula.

When you arrive in London make sure you grab yourself an Oyster Card. You can either get one at any London Underground station or you can order one in advance on the Transport for London website. You will need to either pay £3 for the card (plus postage) online or pay a refundable £5 deposit at a Tube station. You should put £5 credit on to your card as well as a 7-day travel card for Zones 1 and 2. It comes to a total of £32.10 but it includes unlimited travel around Central London, so it's well worth it.

Deliveries

If you wish to get something delivered to Ravensbourne for use at the festival we can help with the process. Please make sure you've filled out the deliveries form for each delivery to the venue. It makes everything run a lot smoother on-site if we know in advance!

Ravensbourne will be unable to receive parcels before the November 2nd so please do not send anything before that.

MozFest 2015 Deliveries Form

When sending your parcel to Ravensbourne it is important to use the following address format:

Printing Company

We have two printing companies to recommend this year.

The first is for more generic printing, so anything from posters to vinyls to stickers. Aspect Press are amazing to work with and they are a local company based just down the road from Ravensbourne. If you want anything professionally printed contact Marc Walsh and he'll do the nessessary introductions.

If you require extra large or rigid printing we'd recommend you use PixartPrinting. They are a european printing company, but are extreamly cheap for anything printed on cardboard, fomex, wood or aluminium. Make sure you leave plently of time of delivery as even with a next day service, as they are delivering from mainlane Europe it can be subject to delays.

Meetings and Fringe Events in London

Due to the high volume of people in London for MozFest and the relatively small size of the Mozspace, we kindly ask you to consider meetings outside of the office for your comfort and guaranteed space.

The MozLondon office will be at full capacity on Thursday for the MoFo staff meeting.

Venue Suggestions

Here are recommended alternative venues for meetings and fringe events. If you're planning a fringe event, please let the MozFest team know so we can include it in the program: festival@mozilla.org

  • Arts Club - Rent an entire Georgian House for your event
  • Covent Garden Hotel - 2 meeting rooms across the road from the Mozilla LDN office
  • Wallace Space - Traditional meeting rooms in central London
  • South Bank - Famous multi-purpose venue along the South Bank of the river
Suggested Restaurants
  • St Johns - Famous English Restaurant not suitable for Vegetarians or Vegans. They have a private room for hire that fits 12
  • Dishoom - Bombay street food, with one restaurant in Covent Garden and the other in Shoreditch. Both have private rooms for hire
  • The Grill on the Market - A little bit more expensive, but an incredible steak house near Smithfields Market, if that's what you fancy.
  • Anchor and Hope Pub - An incredible pub serving up proper British grub just stones throw from the hotels.
  • Mildred's - A vegetarian restaurant that is still popular with omnivores and serves up food from local businesses and small suppliers.
Weird and Wonderful London

There's so many unique places to visit in London, here's just a little list of some quirky things to get up to when you arrive.

  • Grab a late night bagel on Brick Lane. The Brick Lane Beigel Bake is open 24 hours a day, so if you ever get a craving head on down!
  • Start raving at 7am, with cereal! The Cereal Killer Cafe in Shoreditch often holds breakfast raves, and is a cafe that serves nothing but cereal, what more could you want?
  • Grab a coffee in a loo... An old victorian public toilet called The Attendant that's been renevated into a coffee shop, you'll never be caught short for coffee again!
  • Visit the imfamous singing ticket barrier at Canary Wharf Underground Station - [1]
  • Take a black cab! You can't visit London without jumping in a black cab but beware they are pricey. You can hail them from the street or download an app like Hailo or if you want something cheaper Uber is available all around London.
