Mozillians/User Types
Team Lead
Seth is the localization team lead and he is interested in having an accurate and up to date list of all active community members engaged in localization. He has tried to manually keep track of project members in a spreadsheet but it is always incomplete and out of date. Seth sends invitations to the active contributors he regularly works with and on project forums and in project meetings he encourages all localizers to create a Mozillians account and to tag themselves with the 'l10n' tag. He is then able to do a simple search for the 'l10n' tag to get information about the localization community.
Community Veteran
Brian has been involved with Mozilla for years and has worked on many different parts of the project. He is interested in helping new people get involved with Mozilla and wants people to know he is available to help. He creates a Mozillians account to document his experience with the community and adds the 'mentor' tag to his profile. He already has many contacts with other Mozillians and asks one of his colleagues to vouch for his profile to complete his account setup.
New Community Member
Jason is a long time Firefox user. He has promoted Firefox on his blog with an affiliate button and helped spread the word about the Firefox 4 launch on his Facebook account. He creates a profile on the Mozillians site because he is ready to get even more involved with the project. He hasn't had much contact with other active community members though so he doesn't know who to ask for a voucher. He follows the link that says 'Please help me approve my profile' and is connected with an admin. That person asks Jason about his story and approves his profile after hearing what he's done and also suggests that Jason would enjoy going to the next marketing call and can meet other people with similar interests on the marketing discussion group.
Mozilla Rep
Sara was one of the first people to get a Mozillians account and has since become a Mozilla Rep. She has added the 'ReMo' tag to her profile and searches for other users with that tag to coordinate with other people on the ReMo project. Part of her tasks as a rep is to organize people who live near her in Hungary, so she regularly searches for community members in her area and reaches out to them. She was able to use the Mozillians site to invite over 100 community members to a Firefox 6 party she had organized.
Secure Tags: Another variation would be Sara applies for Representative status. An existing Representative grants her application and ads the 'ReMo' tag to her profile.
