Open Mozilla Night
Open Mozilla Night (OMN) is a public community event with a focus on contributor onboarding and contributions to Mozilla projects.
Berlin
The Berlin Community runs a biweekly OMN series on Thursdays (odd-numbered weeks), which has been held 44 times since February 2016 (as of November 2017).
History
The event was initiated by a group of Mozillians that formed following the MozWeekend 2015 in Berlin, in an effort to revive the Berlin Community and to install a dedicated Community Space.
Nowadays, the event focuses on getting you started for your first contribution to any Mozilla project of your choice and gives you a space to continue your contributions among other Mozillians.
Originally, it was described as an open space for Mozillans and all people interested in an open web [...] where everyone can do
- their first steps towards contributing to Mozilla projects (in form of Code, Translations, Design, olicy, Education, ...) with help from other Mozillians,
- meet people already involved or interested in Mozilla and the open web,
- contribute among other Mozillians and discuss problems or help out others,
- hack around with connected devices,
- have some pizza and drinks
- get more involved with the Berlin Mozilla Community
Announcement & Organisation
OMNs are announced via the Berlin Mozilla Meetup group and are usually hosted by one to three members of a pool of organizers (as of November 2017, it consists of four volunteers and five staff members).
Location & Schedule
OMNs take place in the Berlin Community Space (which is part of the new Berlin Office and has a separate entrance). They start at 7pm and usually end between 10pm and 11pm.
