At Mozilla, six core privacy principles guide our data practices and operations. This page is designed to help you apply the principles when you're creating tools

Privacy Review Required

If your tool collects personal data, you will need to use the Project Kickoff Form to initiate a privacy review.

Questions to Ask/Answer

1. Does this tool collect and/or store user data (from people NOT using the tool)?

  • 1.1. if yes, Are these users informed about data being gathered or stored?
  • 1.2. if yes, Can users delete their data?
  • 1.3. if yes, is collection or retention of each bit of user data required for the system's operation (if so, how)?

2. Does this tool collect and/or store user data (from people that ARE using the tool)?

  • 2.1. if yes, Are these users informed about data being gathered or stored?
  • 2.2. if yes, Can users delete their data or accounts?
  • 2.3. if yes, is collection or retention of each bit of user data required for the system's operation (if so, how)?

3. What is the likelihood that any user data collected/retained by Minion is leaked or published accidentally?
