Firefox QA Standup - September 30th, 2015

  • [Andrei] Desktop General status - https://etherpad.mozilla.org/DesktopManualQAWeeklyStatus
    • Builds sign off - 42 Beta 2, 41.0.1 (build1, build2)
    • Aurora Features sign-off - Search Suggestions, Unified Autocomplete
      • Both features have been successfully signed off, with no blockers or major issues uncovered during testing.
    • Mac OS X 10.11 "El Capitan"
      • Conducted compatibility tests on two different hardware configs. One new bug found: http://bugzil.la/1209040 - turns out Chris Peterson already had a bug on file for it (on Apple Radar), so 41 looks good.
    • Main focus:
      • Build sign offs - 42 Beta 3
      • Feature testing - Control Center (Fx42), Tab Visual Sound Indicator (Fx42)
      • Remaining work for Ben Hearsum's request (SHA-1 deprecation plans) currently being wrapped up -https://etherpad.mozilla.org/sha1-testing (should be done today or tomorrow morning).
  • [Ioana] Mobile updates:
  • Signed off Fennec 42 Beta 2 build 1
  • Signed the aurora updates for Fennec 43

  • [Cornel] Windows 10 - read only
    • A few fixes were verified.
  • [Petra] Control Center (Fx 42) - read only
    • Tested and logged Privacy Tour issues
  • [Petra] Async Plugin (Fx 42)
    • no updates
  • [Camelia] Tab Visual Sound indicator (Fx 42)

Major New Mobile Features status

  • [Teo] Tracking Protection and Private browsing improvements - read only
    • no updated
    • feature looks good in 42 Beta 2 and all branches
  • [Ninu] Kidfox - Firefox in Restricted profiles. - read only
    • all functional bugs closed and verified - feature is ok
    • some concerns expressed that from the restricted profile , when you visit the Android settings and from the apps section you tap the browser app it can be noticed that clear data option is available.


Project Updates

    • Signature shortening coming very close now
  • EME automation + YouTube MSE automation [sydpolk]
    • [read-only] Tests that shape the network for video playback are being deployed today. They will set the bandwidth very low and playback youtube and other videos.

    • [maja_zf] short media tests will be running per commit in buildbot very soon - waiting on approval of new Treeherder symbols

  • 41.0.1 probably going out today, driven by startup crashes and Flash-related browser freezes, with some ride-alongs
  • Mobile concern about bug 1207642 (x86 crash at random addresses)

Aurora (Fx 43) (Desktop - KaiRo Mobile - Ioana/Kevin)

  • Saw some stability issues with older processors that do not support SSE2/SSE3

Security

Automation (whimboo)

  • Our custom runner script for firefox-ui-tests in mozmill-ci has been finished transplanting to mozharness (crash handling included). But we cannot replace it yet given that we have to still implement the s3/treeherder submission of results which are handled outside of mozharness
  • Requested replacement of osx 10.8 nodes with 10.11 (bug 1209205)
