Graphics Sanity Test

Help us improve the quality of Firefox by running a quick sanity test for graphics issues.

Why this matters

It is impossible for Mozilla to test every single graphics card in the world. By running this test and submitting the results you'll be providing a value service to Mozilla: to help us discover bugs and quality issues related to specific graphics chipsets.

Prerequisites

An up to date version of Firefox on either the Nightly, Aurora, Beta, or Release branch. While running this task, keep an eye out for any graphics issues (glitches on the screen, black or white areas on the screen, degrading performance of the browser or your system, and crashes).

Steps

1. Start your Firefox browser (assuming it's not running already)
2. Resize the window to around 1024x768 (on a 1080p screen this should be about 2/3rds the size)
3. Load nytimes.com and scroll around the page
4. Open a new tab to pinterest.com and explore this page
5. Switch back and forth quickly between the two open tabs several times
6. In the first tab, load youtube.com and play at least a couple of high definition videos
7. In the second tab, load cnn.com and scroll around the page.
8. Find a video to play and play it.
9. Check with your video card manufacturer to see if your driver is up to date.
10. If your driver is not up to date, update the driver without restarting Firefox
11. Repeat the test from step 3 (skip this if you're driver is already up to date)

Play a Game

Help us find graphics related bugs in Firefox by playing a WebGL game.

Why this matters

It is impossible for Mozilla to test every single graphics card in the world. By running this test and submitting the results you'll be providing a critical and valuable service to Mozilla: help us discover bugs and quality issues related to specific graphics chipsets.

Prerequisites

Please make sure your system meets the following requirements before beginning this task:

• You have installed the latest version of Firefox Nightly
• You have installed all software updates available for your operating system
• You have installed most current graphics driver available for your system
• You have Firefox set up with a new profile for testing

Steps

Note: Skip to step 8 if for some reason the test fails to start

1. Run the Open Web Games browser test (each demo will last about a minute).
2. Once the demos are complete you should see a page indicated the test has completed.
3. Click Download JSON to reveal the result data and copy the data to a plain-text file
4. Click Close Results
5. Open about:support in a new tab and click Copy text to clipboard
6. Paste the text into another plain-text file and remove everything after Important Modified Preferences so that the only content remaining is the information from the Application Basics, Extensions, and Graphics sections.
7. (Optional) Click Report a Problem to submit a problem report if you encountered an issue
   1. Repeat the test and see if you get different results
   2. Repeat the test in different browser and see if you get different results
   3. Fill out this form if you encountered an issue.
