QA Services Team Meeting

  • May 19, 2010
  • Attendees: Tomcat, Henrik, Juanb, Anthony, Marcia, Marco, Aakash, Matt

Discussion Items

Project Status

CrashKill [tomcat/marcia]

  • Crashkill meeting held on May 18. Several actions items came out of the meeting:
    • Tomcat to contact Facebook to try to get Zynga contact
    • Discussion re: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=566443 and how to deal with those crashes. Tomcat and marcia to follow up with chofmann. Concern that we may end up getting a lot of dupe bugs.
    • Requested that we be able to see the unique version number for plugins in crash-stats instead of the current identifiers (for example, Flash using long string IDs that have to mapped to r45, etc)

Accessibility Status Update [marco]

  • De-XPCOM-ing of the accessibility Gecko module is progressing, increasing performance overall. Esp several iteration and tree walking optimizations happened recently, along with elimination of a lot of Do_QueryInterface calls.
  • Still waiting for the 3.6.x tree to reopen for 3.6.5 checkins, have two important regression/crash fixes, one of which affects primarily Thunderbird 3.1, which I want to request permission to land ASAP.
  • Helped the Instantbird team with some UI accessibility issues over the past two weeks.

Summit Presentations [marcia]

  • Created a tracking page for Proposals: https://intranet.mozilla.org/QA/Summit_2010.
    • Bugday Brainstorm (ashughes)
      • fallout from "Future of Bugdays" discussion on moz-dev-qa last week
      • brainstorm ideas of what future bugdays should look like (execution, results, communication, people, topics, visibility/usefulness to developers, etc)
      • specific details and plan to be solidified next week
  • QA Summit mixer with community members

QA Videos [marcia]

  • Rough cut has been done by Rainer but we will reshoot some footage before the final edit.
  • Team Videos - Deadline is third week of July

Community Events [marcia/tomcat]

QMO2 Update [aakashd]

New QMO is up on staging!

1. We're going to need every project leader (or someone) under Automation, Firefox, Mobile Firefox, Moz Web QA and QA Services to add content to their various groups and docs page. So, make sure you spend time once the content is ready to be updated to add that content. The ETA to get this all done is 5/26.

2. I'm going to be invalidating all qmo bugs that are not enhancement bugs today at 3pm. If you're watching qmo content/website, please unwatch between 3-4pm, so you don't get a ton of unnecessary bugmail.

3. We have a total of 9 blog feeds for qmo and only two (ashughes and myself) are on the list currently. I really need those blog posts for those that want their blog feeds sent over to our community page.

4. Accounts will also be set up according to your irc handle and a temporary password when we complete the content merge. Every person will need to change it as soon as they can because all the passwords are going to be the same.

Agenda items for next week [marcia]

Action Items/Takeaways

  • marcia to look for adobe reader crashes that have makeaccessible
  • Proposal to add a Summit Session to review QMO2 and get feedback
  • Remind the team at the next QA Team meeting about the deadline and focus for the QA Team videos:
    • How do we get the community involved again?
    • How do you get involved?
    • Deadline is the third week of July
  • June MV meetup - tchung needs to develop topic and work to get it announced. We had agreed we would do this one month before the meetup date.
