The weekly test development sync up is a quick (ideally less than 15 minute) gathering of folks working in test development and automation held at the beginning of the week.

Goals

The gathering has these goals:

  • Help us to work together better and smartly (fix overloading issues, avoid duplication of effort, learn about cool new tools, etc)
  • Find and remove roadblocks on the various projects
  • Give us a forum to plan for the future
  • A place to help beginners in test development get a foothold by learning what the projects are and who's working on them

The Time

It's held every Monday at 10AM Pacific Time.

Dialing In

  • +1 650 903 0800 x92 Conf# 304 (US/International)
  • +1 416 848 3114 x92 Conf# 304 (Canada)
  • +1 800 707 2533 (pin 369) Conf# 304 (US Toll Free)

Meeting Format

Agendas tend to imply long meetings, with lots of things to cover. The point of this meeting is to simply find and talk about progress and impediments to progress in the test development world of Mozilla.

I want to keep this pretty simple, so I'd like to keep the current formatting of this. For those who are new, here's how it works:

  1. Say hello when you join the phone, I'll make a list of who's on the call.
  2. We'll go around the "room" and I'll ask everyone how things are going.
  3. We'll chat about what you have to say.

Yes, it's really that easy.

But what do I say??

Remember our goals up above. We want to keep the meeting short, but not at the cost of substantive discussion. So, talk about what you did last week, what your plans are this week, and be sure to call out if there is anything blocking you that you need help (or would like help) to resolve. If there is some external team issue, (i.e. a new feature is landing and we have no tests for it for instance) it'd be good to bring those up too.

Does anyone take notes?

Yes, I do. I have a real problem remembering anything I hear unless I take notes. So, I take notes to help me listen. Currently, these notes just pile up in a directory on my box. They aren't great notes, but if people would like, I can start putting them on the wiki here. Let me know.
