QA Show and Tell

Updates, Milestones, Deadlines (2min each call to action)

  • Samples:
    • A call to action: [TAKE ACTION] <Information> For more information contact: <Contact Person>
    • A notice of information (will be read only so make it complete, but don't write a novel): [FYI] <Information>
  • [FYI] While the gfx blocklist fixes in 32.0.1 worked, we found out that bug 1063052 makes Firefox unusable for a 5-digit number of users and will roll a 32.0.2 for that. Possibly, bug 1046382 will ride along to fix even more crashes.
  • [FYI] Nightly has a lot of crashes with e10s, most in content processes. If you turn on e10s and the main process of Firefox crashes, please let KaiRo and juanb know, those crashes need to be priorities.

Quarter Goals

Action Items and notes from the meeting

Raw notes

[ashughes] Test Day Experiment -> What we are trying to do, brainstorming and discussing about different things we can try - primary focus on mentorship. Next week we want to have smaller timeboxed sessions focused on mentorship. Two types of volunteers - (1) those that can organize smaller timeboxed activities - any day of the week, multiple days etc.

As an organizer you will be responsible for:

  • Some level of documentation prepared

(2) Role is mentors - assist the organizer with mentorship.

  • Time commitment is up to you

Testday channel will be deprecated and channel traffic will move over to #qa Reference URL: https://wiki.mozilla.org/QA/Testdays/Events/Relaunch_v1 Will solicit feedback following the event Action Item: stephend update his test day to reflect the channel change

[ctalbert] Q4 Goals -> https://etherpad.mozilla.org/QA-Goals-Brainstorm-2014-Q4

  • Feel free to +1 any goals you agree with
  • Goals will be finalized by sometime next week
  • Dietrich is doing some interesting work with universities. Gets students to hack and try things out, some things have actually been incorporated into FX OS. Researchy-style of projects - attractive to the folks he is trying to grab

[ctalbert] Looking for leader for next week's meeting-> stephend will lead

[mbrandt] Fort Lewis College's Engineering department - mbrandt was invited to a meeting to bring back the Computer program. Interest from the current Engineering Dept. to connect with Mozilla in general. Wants to share what he is doing - also find out if there is interest in remote presentations or mentorship. Matt would like to give a presentation, and then point people in directions and points of contact. Trying to keep this pretty low touch. ctalbert interested in helping, let us know what you end up finding out. Engineers without Boarders, reach out to local chapters?

[mbrandt] WTEU-49 – How do you deliver bad news? http://weekendtesting.com/archives/3708

  • Action Item: [mbrandt] Recommend to come back and do a show and tell in the future regarding this

[pragmatic] QMO Re-design: need feedback on re-design effort. - http://qmo.pragmatictester.com/

  • Thanks to ctalbert for the database import
  • template was imported, very much a work in progress but parul is interested in know
  • Event blog posts are now only on the events page
  • Get involved link - is it too long?
    • would make sense to make it a bit shorter and then link to a page that explains more
  • Uses only the calendar plugin
  • new decision communicated by ccook
  • Contributor spotlight - will pick up tags
    • Has a way of showing the image automatically
  • What about the Join Us page?
    • Placement seems to be okay for that link
  • Placement of widgets?
    • Left hand orientation versus right hand orientation

Action Item: Send pragmatic feedback so she can keep iterating

[ctalbert] Report from open hatch event - Student to Mentor ratio -> 8: 1 ratio. More people showed up and was difficult to mingle. Event seems cool - not sure how many will end up getting involved.

Travel / PTO
