Release Management/WER Investigation/2011-10-10
From MozillaWiki
Attendees: Alex Keybl, Laura Thomson, Ted Mielczarek
Agenda & Notes
- Get a high level overview of breakpad and crash-stats, if possible
- On crash, we currently send a minidump + .extra file (has key/value pairs with extra metadata)
- storage concern for dumps (currently blocked for larger than 20 MB)
- overall sizing of hang/crash data (Alex will look into this)
- when we currently fail to write a mini dump (0 byte mini dump), we still submit .extra
- rather than only taking crashes data, may instead aggregate event data (Laura to discuss with team)
- May want to separate separate winqual data given different amounts of data coming in - weighting is desirable though
- Clarify a couple of legal's concerns
- Find out everybody who needs to be involved to get WER data tracking
- Daniel Einspringer - crash storage (storage requirements)
- Corey Shield - systems (access, audit trail)
- rel-eng for file mappings (bug needed)
- Discuss overlap between current crash data and WER data
- This will be more obvious upon further analysis (Ted?)
- Timing
- Need to check with Sheila about priority (Alex)
- Other actions
- Alex to send Ted/Laura sample dumps
- Laura to brainstorm getting the crashes into the system with team
- Next meeting the week of the 17th - info to come
