Releases/Firefox 14/Final Signoffs

From MozillaWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

This page will track declaring the latest mozilla-beta build as the final in this cycle and starting the build off of the mozilla-release repository.

Please note that issues found in the final moments of the beta period may still require us to rebuild before release

Also, although the title suggests that we're signing off on FF14, we're really signing off on FF14.0.1

Focus Areas

Tracking Details

  • Of the 5 remaining bugs on the tracking list, we're most concerned about 2 crashes:
    • bug 763261 – crash in nsHttpConnection::OnReadSegment @ SocketWrite with Korean IMEs
    • bug 530074 – Crash [@ StrChrIA ] from winsock and shlwapi.dll (LSP, evil *x86.dll module, or BitDefender)

Add-ons

Current Status

Mobile: Ad-Block plus is now featured as a recommended add-on (as of week of last week).

Outstanding Issues/Concerns

Stability

Current Status

  • Beta 11 currently has 1,521,313 users.
  • Flash crash bug 763237 continues to be the top crash, although has noted previously by bsmedberg, this is still the #1 reported topcrasher because of a bug in the crash reporter code which only catches about 40% of Flash process crashes. This generic signature signature should split into specific signatures once that bug is fixed.
  • No issues seen which should prevent us from shipping next week unless something new crops up before next week.

Outstanding Issues/Concerns

  • We tracked Mac bug 753251 for Firefox 13, but it is still happening in 14 and is currently the top specific Mac crash bug. Not sure if we want to do anything about it, but just calling it out.

Mobile specific stability notes

Current Status

It is hard to state the current stability of beta 12 due to the ADU for beta 12 to sign off. Based on Beta 11, we see that the crash rate is less than 5 %

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/topcrasher/byversion/FennecAndroid/14.0b11/3/browser

Based on the font inflation bug being fixed for this release, the numbers may slightly dip to a little less than 3.

Outstanding Issues/Concerns

bug 767713, bug 760357, bug 760267, bug 720509 - java.lang.NullPointerException: at org.mozilla.gecko.GeckoApp.onPrepareOptionsMenu(GeckoApp.java) remains the highest for beta 11

Flash crashes are getting to be an issue :

bug 763175 - Crash in AndroidGLController::ProvideEGLSurface during CompositorParent::ResumeComposition

  • on aurora and central, but not on beta

Web Compat

Current Status

  • Latest top site status is visible at arewecompatibleyet.com.
  • We are at the beginning of this effort. Many top sites currently have issues and there is a lot of investigation to do.

Outstanding Issues/Concerns

  • There are outstanding issues with many top mobile sites including Google properties and Facebook
  • Our users are noticing broken sites - we have received feedback via Input about 10 broken sites thus far

Services

Current Status

Recent fixes for 14.0.1 on mobile:

  • Account lost if Firefox is installed on SD card (bug 768102)
    • Workaround: we persist Sync account settings to disk and restore them if necessary when Fennec starts.
  • Motorola Blur devices would go to the wrong Sync settings page (bug 721760)
    • Solution: we try opening the Blur activity directly, and if that fails we do things the proper Android way.

Both of these have been QAed and we consider them low risk.

I don't see anything else that's landed as status-firefox14=fixed since release of 14 for mobile. Neither do I see any significant desktop landings.

Outstanding Issues/Concerns

None.

We are continuing to bug Metrics to get insight into Sync adoption on Native Fennec; see bug 757619.

Bug Triage Status:

  • FIXED:
    • 13/48 status-firefox-esr10:fixed verified (some are left-overs from previous releases)
    • It's now my top priority and am triaging daily
  • UNCONFIRMED:
    • 5 bugs in my triage queue but none look like regressions/blockers
  • QAWANTED:
    • bug 722039 Crash in mozInlineSpellChecker::AddRange mainly while typing an email in Lotus Notes iWeb
      • Not a recent regression, trying to engage with IBM
      • Will ship with this bug but continue to track for fix in the next ESR

Testing Status:

  • No functional testing of 10.0.6esrpre builds to date, we usually do this a couple days before release (once 14.0.1RC testing is complete)
  • Do we have any negative feedback from Enterprise testers for QA follow-up?

Outstanding Issues/Concerns - Desktop

Nothing of current issue or concern which would prevent shipping 10.0.7esr on schedule.

Outstanding Issues/Concerns - Desktop

  • Flash is so dominant on support issues that it affects our ability to see anything related to games/videos/facebook.

Current Status - Mobile

14.0.1, beta reviews are stable if a bit better than releases we've seen in the past.

Outstanding Issues/Concerns - Mobile

None.
