Working Group Leads
The Working Group Leads are a collection of Working Group members who have stepped-up in larger roles within the program and are responsible for the execution of several of the program's key tasks. We currently have Working Group Leads who concentrate on the following:
- Guiding our Regional Marketing Ambassadors program
- Guiding our Rep Adviser program (to be launched in February)
- Managing our social media channels
- Recruiting new members to the organization
- Hosting office hours (and mentoring new members!)
- Composing our monthly newsletter
- Managing our Video Tutorial and App of the Month activity
- Creating a strategy for, and editing, our blog
- Managing our Club Lead Training
Leads Roles & Responsibilities
Roles
- Each Lead is appointed for a period of six months (our current timeline began on August 15th, 2013)
- One person can only be a Lead for a maximum of two terms
Responsibilities
Each Lead must comply with the following responsibilities (or be subject to replacement in their position):
- Must attend at least one Leads meeting each month (we host 2/month total) or send an email update ahead of time to notify the Leads on their progress/needs/questions
- Provide at least one email update a month updating the Working Group Leads on their progress
- Comply with the monthly timeline laid out for them here
- Evangelize the program over their social media channels, email, and interactions with other Mozillians
- Must be a great example in the community of what it means to be a good Firefox Student Ambassador :)

Regional Marketing Ambassador Lead
Responsibilities
- Recruiting a Student Ambassador from every region to promote the contests and campaigns within their region
- Managing the Working Group voting process on new Regional Marketing Ambassadors
- With help of Working Group - define the roles and responsibilities of the RMAs
- Acting as a partner with the program manager to provide these Ambassadors with the information, resources, and collateral needed in order to successfully execute on promoting the campaigns
- Writing copy to be included in the newsletter (and social posts), sending emails, and reaching out to Mozillians and Firefox fans around the world on a regular basis to participate and reminding them of deadlines
- Giving an update at the Working Group meetings on their progress
- Send out a monthly email to all of the RMAs on the work that they'll be doing in the next month
Email/Newsletter Lead
Responsibilities
- Answer emails that are sent to the program asking for more information
- Giving an update at the Working Group meetings on their progress
- Send out a bi-weekly email to Working Group on the topics, themes, and questions that they have been receiving on a regular basis
- Help contribute topics/first draft of the monthly newsletter
Social Media Lead
Responsibilities
- Respond to Ambassador posts (at least twice a week) on the Student Ambassadors Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter accounts
- Recruit social media localizers to help translate posts into targeted languages
- Communicate directly with social media localizers on month's posts, tasks, and timeline by sending them an email at the start of every month (as well as reminders before due-dates)
- Giving an update at the Working Group meetings on their progress
Recruitment Lead
Responsibilities
- Reaching out to communities in our Firefox OS target markets and finding out how we can best support their efforts to recruit more university students into the Firefox Student Ambassador Program
- Send monthly program email updates to Mozilla Reps and Community Builders
- 15th: Reach out to SWG Leads for topics for that month's newsletter
- Give an update at the Working Group meetings on their progress and needs
Office Hours Lead
Responsibilities
- Schedule and moderate the Office Hour sessions (1/ month)
- Update the activity wiki page with the date and time of the next session
- Promote the office hour sessions over social media
- Compile a list of rules by which the Office Hours sessions can run so that they are effective
- Take notes during the sessions on what was discussed and report back to the Working Group
- Compose a Google doc or etherpad that participants can enter their questions on before the meeting. Update the FAQ with answers to these questions as needed.
Rep Adviser Lead
Responsibilities
- With feedback from the SWG, define the first 5 steps of a FSA to complete after joining the program
- Propose how relationship with Reps is integrated with and beyond these first 5 steps
- Present the plan to the Reps Council for feedback
- Build-out resources that are needed for both FSAs and Rep 'Advisers' to be a success in this process
- Recruit and manage Rep Advisers
Video Tutorial Lead
Responsibilities
- Compose 2 social updates (1 Facebook/1 Twitter) every month about the activity and send them to FSA leadership to get posted
- 25th: Review Video submissions and compose a blog post that includes the top 5 *best* videos from that month
- 25th: Choose the winning video (with help of SWG Leads)
- 25th: Ensure that the link (of the winning video) is given to the email/newsletter, blog, and recruitment leads so that they can put it in the email update and newsletter for that month
- 25th: Work with SWG Leads to determine the theme for the following month's contest
- 26th: File a bug to get the top 5 videos uploaded to our Air Mozilla channel
- Provide update on progress (in-person or written) at the SWG Leads meeting
App of the Month Lead
Responsibilities
- Compose 2 social updates (1 Facebook/1 Twitter) every month doing outreach about the activity and ensure they are sent to FSA leadership for posting
- Check submission form twice a month and ensure that all apps submitted are featured on our Apps wiki page
- 20th of month: Email SWG Leads group with list of apps that have been submitted and set up a way for them to vote on the winner. Announce the winner during the final meeting of the month
- 25th: Send link to, name of developer, and name of app to Recruitment and Newsletter Leads to include in the email update and newsletter for that month
- 25th: With SWG Leads, decide app themes for the next two months and send these to Recruitment and Newsletter Leads to include in that month's newsletter and email update
- 1st (of next month): Send a congratulations email to the winner and cc FSA program leadership
- Provide update on progress (in-person or written) at the SWG Leads meeting
Blog Lead
Responsibilities
- Create mailing list for the FSA blog and answer emails sent to this list
- Provide revisions/edits to those who submit drafts and then send back to them for their final approval before posting
- Run all blogs by FSA program leadership before posting
- If there is a notable blog from the month, list it on our section of the weekly project wiki page or reach out to our Newsletter Lead to insure it is included in the next month's edition (by the 25th of each month)
- 25th: Work with Recruitment and Newsletter Leads to ensure that the content from the monthly email update and newsletter also get posted on the blog
- Provide a monthly update on progress (in-person or written) at the SWG Leads meeting
Club Lead Training Lead
Responsibilities
- Create email alias for the FSA Club Leads and answer emails sent to this list
- When an FSA emails the list asking for directions on how to start their own Club, make sure they are equip with the correct resources
- Update the Club Lead training wiki page as necessary
- Send Open Badges to those who have completed their Club Lead Training as well as the link with directions for how to take the next step in forming their Club
- Provide monthly update on progress (in-person or written) at the SWG Leads meeting
Club Lead Liaison
Responsibilities
- Create mailing list for Club Leads (and answer emails from Club Leads sent to this email alias)
- Schedule and host monthly IRC meet-up with Club Leads by sending out a poll
- (When needed) send out special resources to this mailing list
- Provide update on progress (in-person or written) at the SWG Leads meeting
