SUMO Development Update

  • We're testing the new AAQ flow this week.


Firefox Desktop

Firefox 44 gets released tomorrow! Draft Release Notes https://www-dev.allizom.org/en-US/firefox/44.0/releasenotes/ Push Notifications and Service Workers improvements

redesigned certficate error pages in firefox 44 which contain a new "learn more" link to a sumo article - we should see quite a bit of traffic caused by this

"ask me everytime" option for cookies removed from the privacy panel

Crashes:

  • [1] some trusteer related crashes surging in the 44 release candidates


Firefox Android

firefox 44 is comng out tomorrow https://www-dev.allizom.org/en-US/firefox/android/44.0/releasenotes We will be doing a staged rollout using Google Play's staged rollout feature. Lots of discussion about FF44 Android crash rate is why we are doing this! https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors/711718?last=67650 is our FF44 thread Android OS versions 3.0 - 3.2.6 (Honeycomb) are no longer supported

  • The app will not be visible on the Google Play Store for users of Android 3.x.
  • Existing users will simply have their Firefox stop updating.


Firefox for iOS

  • Still plugging away at 2.0 for release we hope in late February or sometime later in Q1 ;-) To that end the articles will be done in English this week


Knowledge Base

[philipp] due to bug 1232258 we need to redirect traffic from https://support.mozilla.org/kb/tls-error-reports to https://support.mozilla.org/kb/what-does-your-connection-is-not-secure-mean as firefox 44 contains a wrong inproduct link (Done!) thanks! Lauren and Joni are working to create a training guide to teach incoming tech writers to write articles. Article updates: version 44 done! Firefox for ios 2.0 articles ready for L10N (2 new articles; one in progress)
