Talk:Firefox:1.5 Network Error Messages
From MozillaWiki
A few suggestions:
- Do not use contractions in title/heading
- I could be just missing something, but is there really a case where the malformedURI message will appear such that the address bar will contain unescaped backslashes ot spaces?
- Don't ask user to speculate. Questions like "Is your computer..." and "Do you have access..." sound fine, but:
- "Could the site be temporarily unavailable?" -> "The site may be temporarily unavailable."
- "Could the file have been moved, renamed or deleted?" -> "The file may have been moved, renamed or deleted."

Tuukka:
- Contractions were used because it reads a little friendlier / less formal than "cannot" or "is not". I know that style guides discourage it, but when I was putting these together last night, it just seemed so heavy to have "cannot". Let me mull that a bit.

The contractions in the body/bullets doesn't bother me too much; however, I find the contractions in the headlines (underlined phrases) to be annoying. I think the headline should be a bit more formal. Something to consider.

I get the connectionFailure error when trying to connect to a site that returns connection refused. This should be more specific that the connection was refused.
