Miscellaneous
Add-ons:
- August 4, 2023 : 1420174: "Outlook Address Book Enabler" causes Thunderbird to take 60 seconds to start i.e. slow start! <-- "Outlook Address Book Enabler" version 1.0.2 last updated May 19, 2023. Hopefully fixed in future versions.
Not 115 (carried over from 102)
- antivirus (often AV software breaks new versions of Thunderbird until the an update is released). Don't use AV from anybody except Microsoft if you are on Windows is my informal recommendation since all 3rd party AV are worse than MS's and break TB for longer in my anecdotal :-) experience
- MS OAuth & Exchange related issues (relevant tags:

Week 3: July 25-31, 2023
Email providers that aren't microsoft :-)
- [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1419777 1419777: I can't log in to my Google Family Link child account with Thunderbird <-- not supported using IMAP ; you have to uses mobile apps or web app
- 1419342: Time Warner aka spectrum aka twc SMTP settings <-- same as 1419022 timewarner aka twc can't send emails, connection outgoing server (SMTP) mail.twc.com timed out?!? More instances: 1419512; 1419536
- 1419355: Thunderbird 115 isn't downloading protonmail <-- #troubleshootingdetailsmissing
Dataloss (usually there are troubleshooting details missing sadly)
Calendar
- 1419518: In 115.0.1 this feature is buggy, all categories have the same color and the colored line is not displayed on created events. <-- Another complaint like https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1418974 namely that Categories aren't colored differently like they used to be in 102
Unified Folders
- 1419350: Yesterday, I migrated from Thunderbird 102.13.1 to 115.0.1 (Supernova), and with the new version, in the Unified Folders view, the Inboxes of the Microsoft365 "Shared mailboxes" do not show up
- 1419267 Office365 institutional account but first account on a custom server is showing in Unified Folders
- 1419387: I use UNIFIED INBOX. If I check just one email address then all new messages are shown at the bottom of the queue as it always has but if I use UNIFIED then Thunderbird will open with oldest email highlighted at the top of the list anje aka toad-hall filed a bug bug 1845934: Unified folders eg: Inbox Sort by > Date, Ascending, Unthreaded - incorrectly has focus on oldest mail at top
Unified Toolbar
- 14198598: Problem displaying unified folders: After the update, only the menu appeared, the rest was empty. So I changed the option and now, when the "Unified Folders" option is checked in View, nothing happens and the option remains unchecked. <-- Another instance of July 19's 1418824: Unified folders not working with version 115. SAME WORKAROUND: delete the "smart mailboxes" folders <-- not sure if this workaround is kosher!

Linux
- 1419788: Is there a flag for the flatpak command that will start Thunderbird minimized?
- 1419662: Debian 12: "flatpak run --branch=stable --command=thunderbird org.mozilla.Thunderbird" works but "flatpak run org.mozilla.Thunderbird" doesn't
- 1419664: Thunderbird Flatpak 115.0.1 Reminders Not Working (after wake from suspend)
Miscellaneous
- 1419787: You should be able to do Right to left without the Bidi add-on if your Operating system locale is set to a RTL locale.
- FEATURE REQUEST: no tab bar, instead use the spaces toolbar: --> Wayne's comment: A big point of "spaces" on the left is to give the icons a fixed location for instant access to those functions. It is planned to not require opening tabs - see bug 1839194#c2: The plan for the future is to not open a tabbar if the user is only accessing the primary spaces (mail, calendar, address book, etc), and only show tabs when multiple elements per space are opened (single messages in tabs, events in tabs, etc).
- 1419628 Local Folders - Apply columns to - folder and its children - mail account - mail account fails <-- Anje / Toad-Hall filed bug 1846127 Other instances: 1419841: How do I get all of my folders and subfolders to have the same columns in v115
- 1419524: images pasted into new email too big (because TB uses HTML instead of XUL and HTML does images differently
- 1419525: Since v115 TB seems to only default to open to "Local folders" instead of inbox like it was in 115 <-- #troubleshootingdetailsmissing
- 1419362: In an RSS feed item, Save image as... doesn't work in Thunderbird (works in Firefox) <-- #troubleshootingdetailsmissing
- Mark as read is slow: 1419259: With a slow connection, and large messages (images, etc.), it sometimes takes ten or more seconds before being marked as "Read", and sometimes it does not switch to "Read" at all !!!
Add-ons:
- July 31, 2023 1419785: Display User Agent - doesn`t work with TB115
- July 29, 2023 1419642: On latest update of TB, all my settings have again been scrambled (it takes forever to go though every setting on TB!) and I've again lost the BD spam toolbar, even though it is installed and enabled. ...Uninstallation of Bitdefender using the Uninstall Tool downloaded from the website, rather than Uninstall in Windows , followed by a scan with the programme Everything and removal of another 5 BD files finally removed the BD extension from the Manage Extensions list! <-- I wish I could say that BitDefender or any antivirus software has a great track record of updating consistently and not breaking TB randomly. But no AV vendors are consistently bad that way :-) There is a new version of Bit Defender released on July 31, 2023. Perhaps it helps?
- July 27, 2023: protz's Manually Sort Folders is broken in 115 (see msf issue #199), luckily there's a beta version (which has issues with sub folders and unread counts but otherwise works): Manually-Sort-Folders-v3.2.zip <-- beta 3.2; SUMO Questions: 1419526: In pre 115 versions I used the "Manually sort folders" add-on to sort folders to how I want to prioritise them
- July 26, 2023: Import Export Tools NG (IETNG) is broken in 102. But happily v14 beta 6 of IETNG works :-) see: https://github.com/thundernest/import-export-tools-ng/issues/408 ; SUMO Questions: upgraded to ver 115.0.1 & now can't get importexporttool to work!!! can't use it without this tool
- More instances of the Cardbook issue (fixed on July 28 in Cardbook 90.8): 1419312; 1419261: After upgrade to Version 115 search result list is empty
Not 115 (carried over from 102)
antivirus
(often AV software breaks new versions of Thunderbird until the an update is released). Don't use AV from anybody except Microsoft if you are on Windows is my informal recommendation since all 3rd party AV are worse than MS's and break TB for longer in my anecdotal :-) experience
- 1419475: I've just upgraded Thunderbird to 115.0.1 from (I think) 102. Now it fails to connect to any mail servers, either IMAP or SMTPWhen upgrading Thunderbird had removed itself from the Windows Defender Firewall and didn't replace itself <-- I don't think Thunderbird did anything :-) It was Defender that didn't recognize the new Thunderbird for some reason! Obscure Bug
- mozillaZine: 3111707: Avast blocking sending mail for outlook user <-- found July 29, 2023 workaround: uninstall Avast One (disabling it didn't work)
- Anje Toad-Hall has a canned response in SUMO question: 1423414 which might help others
- Looks like this person is trying to use OAuth with auth set to normal password (which I don't think will work) -> 1419797: What is weird is that on my laptop, I get the outlook emails. I checked the server settings and on the laptop, the server setting is normal password - this fixed the problem.
- Changing from OAuth to normal password allows people to send emails: 1419635: If I set "Normal password" instead of Oauth2, I can send emails.
- Another theory about some hotmail/outlook.com/live.com email issues is that people are entering their password into the "Set Up Your Existing Email Address" which causes it to fail. Instead folks should leave the password field blank and click Done which will cause their browser to open up and ask for the outh password. Instances of this issue: July 29, 2023: 1419686: Unable to create existing account
- 1419572: Thunderbird update to 115.0.1 prevents e-mail sending from one a/c...Solution, uninstalling Thunderbird, fresh install, sequence a set up of preferred outlook first and sending and receiving goes through well. <- could this be the cause of other people's issues? Namely: wrong SMTP server in a multiple account situation?
- 1419514: Filters don't work with the Owl Exchange add-on

Miscellaneous:
Week 2: July 18-24, 2023
- Printing
- 1843628: Printing issues with HTML E-Mail (only email headers and big whitespace on first page) Multiple instances:
- 1418762: Printing Issue with latest update ;
- 1418770: Thunderbird Email and Printing: "Thunderbird has suddenly decided that it will split the header and sender information of an email from the text message which means that if I try to print the whole message the header and sender information appears on the first page and the rest of the body of the text is on the following pages even if the message is only one page long."
- 1843628: Printing issues with HTML E-Mail (only email headers and big whitespace on first page) Multiple instances:
- Email providers that aren't microsoft :-)
- gmail: 1419115: Gmail tags are no longer represented as subfolders in Thunderbird 115 <-- non nested new tags work but newtag/nestedtag does NOT work; the nested folders show up if you right click on the account > Subscribe... but you can't actually subscribe to them
- TWC: 1419022: Thunderbird stopped sending emails for twc.com <-- looks like a settings issue
- AOL/Verizon: 1419027: Can't Set Up Thunderbird. (Using AOL/Verizon email address.) <-- see 1344702 for these settings: "Log into the account on the AOL site and create an app password for TB: https://help.aol.com/articles/Create-and-manage-app-password Remove the Verizon mailbox:// and smtp:// passwords from Saved Passwords, restart TB, enter the app password when asked for a password. "
- UI, UX and lack of customization complaints:
- 1419225: Hi, I have been using The Bat! client from Ritlabs for ages and reason for this is its capability to display messages threaded by "From" header and then sorted by date. <-- add-on?
- 141984: Spaces tool bar makes tab bar unnecessary, how do i turn off the tab bar?
- 1418934: Having just updated from 102.13.0.0, I find the sizing and applying of column sizes/views to be even more frustrating than before.
- Dataloss (usually there are troubleshooting details missing sadly)
-
1418793: Archives in most accounts missing!!! - "After over 25yrs I switched to BetterBird and solved the issues this newest Ver 115.01 of Tbird caused." <-- troubleshooting details missing, switched to betterbird<-- UPDATE 31July2023: We believe this is fixed in: bug 184637: "v115 fails to subscribe Imap subfolders at folder hierarchy-depth > 2; v <=102 works OK". This fix will be part of 115.1 which will be out the week of August 7th if things go as planned.

- Calendar
- 1419118: how do I set the width of the calendar so that it fits on the screen (or window) so it fits in 1920x1080 <-- WFM on my 1920x1080 display so is this an add-ons or other issue?
- [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1418990 1418990: Thunderbird 115.0 / 115.0.1 - CalDAV does not sync (worked in 102) <--- #troubleshootingdetailsmissing
- 1419173: after installing the version 115.0.1 running on Windows 11. Syncing with my network calendar causes the program to freeze. I can wait a whole day and nothing happens. When I turn the calendar off, Thunderbird is working fine. <- #troubleshootingdetailsmissing
- 1418803: Can't import ics calendar file using Reminderfox - Workaround I had to remove all lines that contained "LAST-MODIFIED". After that it imported to Thunderbird no problem <-- not sure if this is a TB problem or a Reminderfox problem?!?
- Unified Folders
- 1418958: Unified Folders shows no email but other views show email <-- #troubleshootingdetailsmissing
- 1419155: When Thunderbird was auto updated from? to 115.0.1 my unified folders were significantly changed. I no longer have my main account shown in the unified folder, and do not have a my main account with other in the trash list, so cannot see deleted emails from my main account <-- #troubleshootingdetailsmissing
- 1418824: Unified folders not working with version 115. WORKAROUND: delete the "smart mailboxes" folders <-- not sure if this workaround is kosher!
- Unified Toolbar
- Filters
- Duplicate emails
- 1418693 Duplicates in TB 115 on IMAP accounts in both the inbox and sent folder (didn't have this issue in 102 and email provider isn't Microsoft or gmail) <-- Theory: could be legitimate bug, could also be add-ons, etc

):- 1419218: Can't receive email because of wrong settings from ISP: outlook.office365.com:143 Should be 993 "Not sure why you connect on 143 for IMAP; the standard setting is outlook.office365.com on 993, SSL/TLS, OAuth2 authentication (pictures). Also, the outgoing is smtp.office365.com on 587, STARTTLS, OAuth2 authentication.
- 1419024: MSN is now saying that Outlook won't work <-- #troubleshootingdetailsmissing ; perhaps oauth is wrong , perhaps anti-virus is blocking, perhaps settings from 1417298 will fix it
- 1418912: Thunderbird Cannot Send Email Through Outlook Account <-- problem with settings?!? These settings fixed it apparently: "The outgoing server is smtp.office365.com, 587, STARTTLS, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = email address." from sfhowes in: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1417298#answer-1588949

- 1418633: Thunderbird stopped connecting to hotmail after upgrading to v115.0 <-- maybe norton messed up oauth2?!? the customer's claim here is that changing it back to password auth fixed the issue; perhaps this is the same issue i.e. changing back to password auth will fix 1418798: Thunderbird 115 not allowing me to send e-mails or perhaps it's AVAST or Pia VPN?!?
- 1418676: Cannot send emails with comcast which uses office365
- 1418722: Thunderbird-For 2 days now I don't receive new mail. - Fixed by setting authentication to OAuth2 as per 1417298

- 1418434: Thunderbird 115.0 (64 bit) - unable to send emails to Outlook.com
- 1418588 I noticed today that the account hadn't shown any new mail since I upgraded to 115.0. It had been using IMAP with OAuth to connect, and was working through 112.x. So I bit the bullet and paid for the OWL extension for exchange, and everything is now working
- 1418577 Since the update, I'm not having any problems with the gmail account, but when I try to check the hotmail account, I get an error message that says I need to put in my login credentials. A pop-up then comes up to supposedly allow me to do that, but instead it always redirects to a Thunderbird welcome page
- 1418528 Exquilla versions prior to 115.1 can't send email with TB115

- 1418418 Two Junk And Trash Folders Displayed (GMail) after upgrading to Thunderbird 115 <-- this happened in 102 too, it's just more visible in 115
