User:Shaver/AMO Sandbox Refinement
From MozillaWiki
Phase 1 (pre-Madhava)
- Permit direct linking to sandboxed add-ons (not shown in search results or browsing)
- Add scary goddamned warning text (as from the main sandbox page) above the install button, which will be pink^Wred
- Maybe de-skin the page a bunch too, so that it's more obviously not part of the Mozilla offerings?
- Hopefully get more reviews that way?
Phase 2 (post-Madhava)
- Split sandbox into 'experimental' and 'totally untested'.
- Getting to 'experimental' just requires a clear description, preview images, good general metadata hygiene; experimental carries a warning prior to install (DHTML thingy?)
- Updates to public add-ons start in "experimental"
- Getting out of experimental requires reviews, established user base, demonstration of some updates and responsiveness, etc. The current bar, basically.
- Optional "include experimental" option that's just optional when searching (via the search options)
- "Totally untested" remains terrifyingly difficult to find.
- Getting to 'experimental' just requires a clear description, preview images, good general metadata hygiene; experimental carries a warning prior to install (DHTML thingy?)
- Separate RSS feeds for newly-experimental, newly-public?
