[MoFo stands for "Mozilla FOundation":-) ]

Roland would like to hold a Summer of Code Event with kids and teenagers but knows nothing about teaching. He's held numerous small events like this in the past but with geeks and adults. Ideally Roland and other techie folks would assist somebody who knows kids and how to teach them

Looking for tech friendly teachers and people who have experience holding events with kids

Roland and other geeks can help out with tech and "teaching" (in quotes because I'll probably learn more from them than they'll learn from me) tech but ideally the event would be led or co-led by somebody who actually has experience coordinating/teaching/leading events with kids (e.g. Peter Rawsthorne?)

Sandy notes that lots of people at Science World are good at doing informal teaching with kids of all ages. We even have some expertise in events for teens.

Test Drive

Roland suggests a test event with a small group e.g. his kid and other "guinea pigs" :-) at somebody's home or a kid and tech friendly cafe or school or community centre

Venue

• some kid friendly and transit accessible and a place with computers ideally
• Community Centre like Mount Pleasant with a computer lab? Mozilla Vancouver office? A school like Ralph Giles' kid's French school? Science World?
• Sandy notes that Science World is kid friendly and transit accessible and has some computers. She has sent the details of this project to a few people whose job it is to cultivate community connections, and is about to leave town for a week. But she hopes that the seeds she planted will flourish in mid June.
