PlanIT Impact Website Development update:
The team is finalizing the Stormwater, Energy and Walk Score data visualizations; they'll be fully functional and ready for demo use before this Wednesday's KCDC meeting.
We secured feedback on the logo variants we presented last week. We’re underway with refining our agency recommended variant to make it simpler and less busy. We’re also underway with developing an accompanying logo bug based off of the approved data visualization wheel.
Next week we’ll kick off development of the site user manual.
The team discussed issues relating to better control over purchased licenses. We’ll be working next week to set up a mechanism to prevent the uncontrolled sharing of purchased licenses. We’re underway with adding registration marks to references of “Walk Score” throughout the site, per our discussion Monday afternoon. We’ll also develop and add a definition of what the Walk Score means and how it’s calculated.
We have been working on website content drafts and will be getting this integrated into the website this week.
Next week we’ll explore including demographic data if it’s easy and available in the data visualizations.
We’re meeting at KCDC Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. to conduct a functionality overview for the student site beta testers.
Work continues with migration of the approved graphic design elements and data visualization treatments to the demo site.

This week PlanIT Impact had a lot of activity! Dominique met with the director of the Kansas City Design Center, Vlad Krstic, to review the studio project the 7 Kansas State architecture and planning students will be engaged in, using PlanIT Impact as a research tool. We are very encouraged by Prof Krstic's intention to use our program to help shape the design problem based on the students' findings. Their area of study will be Kessler park and the neighborhood to the south, a scenic and historic recreation area that frames part of the north east edge of downtown. Prof Krstic also joined our team at Trozzolo to review progress on the copy and content structure of the site.
More of the back end functionality was developed to tie together the energy modeling component and integrate the CSV file output with our reporting output.
Next week we plan to introduce the students to the app and begin training!

PlanIT impact is actively working on further developing our cloud based resource impact tool for early stage urban planning and building design.
This week we were able to achieve the following: Data visualization was fine tuned and iconography and color scheme is established. Looks great!
Confirmed that we are using PHP coding language mySequel database and HTML 5
4 sites were consolidated into 2 and URL account is now pointing to the same place. We continue working on the DEV site, and will connect the API's next week. URL's will officially be
PlanITimpact.com <http://PlanITimpact.com> and PlanITImpact.org <http://PlanITImpact.org>
The Login structure has been further developed, and it was decided that a User will have to know someone's email address to share file with someone else, i.e. User receives an email and can log in and see shared projects.
We have established a level of editability for each project...I.e. whether shared files are just viewable or editable. Public or private. We thought about the need for a Gatekeeper to approve models if they are public?
Google earth is operating within PlanIT impact and is navigatable...it's working!
Currently working on downloading KMZ files or KML files, from Sketch up or any other sources
to auto populate for the project, user can override any information they need to manually for higher level of accuracy.
We are currently tying into API's of national and local level data, five data sets total, ranging from weather data for storm water calculation to walkability, Transit score, and US data.
We plan to launch at the end of August and will have an intensive work session around benchmarking the data sources and establishing our metrics next week.
