Schedule & Progress on Upcoming Releases
Firefox 3.6.9 / Firefox 3.5.12
- Builds are currently in QA testing
- Plan to release to the beta audience this Thursday morning PST (depending on QA sign-off)
- Plan is still to release final on September 7th
Firefox 4
- Beta update #4 released yesterday
- Freezing for Beta 5 this friday, but this may not be feature freeze
- Current discussion is to push beta update #5 on schedule, then land Jaegermonkey, and target September 10 for freeze.
- Under this plan, beta update #6 would represent Feature+String+API freeze.
- a few features are at risk
- indexedDB unlikely to be included (spec is changing rapidly, security implications to be resolved)
- websockets likely to be included, but only as an experimental & prefixed feature possibly not matching spec (spec changing rapidly with new owner)
- some of the new UI features may not make the cut off
- priority is performance, UI upgrades and support for JetPack SDK
Jetpack SDK 0.7
- RC1 last Thursday, August 19
- RC2 yesterday, Tuesday, August 24
- final release delayed one day to allow RC2 to bake
- tentative final release date tomorrow, Thursday, August 26

- New issue [NOW FIXED]: Adblock Plus causes Firefox to force you to manually click through on 302/301s: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=584759
- So far, haven't done a thorough analysis of the latest Beta feedback, but overall, lots of excitement about Panorama. Will have more feedback for Beta 4 next week.

- Firefox 4 is not likely to be supported on PPC architectures - reactions?
- many of the speed / responsiveness features aren't available on PPC
- most people seemed to agree with rationale

- Is Firebug compatibility considered release criteria for Firefox 4?
- yes, please make sure Firebug blockers are nominated as release blockers
